Frederick W. Smith International Airport (MEM) is excited to host the Jon K. Thompson World Class Tour to allow the general public to learn more about what we do.
2026 World Class Tour dates have been filled. Once the 2027 World Class Tour dates have been confirmed, they will be posted on this page.
Named after Jon K. Thompson, one of the Airport Authority’s longest-serving board members and one of the leaders of the original “Airport World Class Tour”, this tour gives Memphians a better look at the airport’s operations and a better understanding about the important role MEM plays in the Mid-South economy.
Tours begin at 9:00 a.m. and usually wrap up by 11:30 a.m. Activities begin with presentations on the airport’s history, current activities, finances, projects and air service development efforts. The presentations are followed by a comprehensive bus tour of the airfield, the FedEx World Hub and the Tennessee Air National Guard base.
