  • American Airlines to add larger planes for Memphis-Washington, D.C. flights

    More Memphis International Airport (MEM) passengers will soon be able to fly to and from Ronald Reagan Washington International Airport (DCA) thanks to the addition of larger aircraft by American Airlines. 

    Beginning June 7, all American Airlines flights to DCA will utilize 76-seat Embraer 175 planes. Previously, the airline used 50-seat aircraft for some of its DCA routes. American currently offers three daily weekday flights to DCA and one frequency per day on Saturday. The larger aircraft will provide customers two-class service, onboard Wi-Fi and add 221 seats per week in capacity between Memphis and Washington, D.C.

  • Wastewater pump failure results in partial flooding of General DeWitt Spain Airport

    The City of Memphis advised Airport Authority late Thursday, March 8, of a significant electrical failure affecting their ability to pump wastewater through MC Stiles Wastewater Treatment Plant. The result is a reverse flow of river water into the peninsula impacting General DeWitt Spain Airport. Residential areas are not affected.

  • Southwest Airlines to begin nonstop Memphis-Denver service October 3

    Southwest Airlines has announced that it will begin nonstop service between Memphis International Airport (MEM) and Denver International Airport (DEN) beginning October 3, 2018. The flight will run daily and Southwest will utilize Boeing 737 aircraft with an average of 143 seats.

  • Allegiant to begin nonstop Memphis-Oakland service in May

    Allegiant has announced that it will begin nonstop service between Memphis International Airport (MEM) and Oakland International Airport (OAK) starting May 30. The flight will run twice weekly on Wednesday and Saturday. 

    The flight is currently scheduled to be seasonal in nature, ending in mid-August, though strong demand could lead to a year-round service. Allegiant’s Memphis-Los Angeles route began as seasonal service in 2016 before being added as a year-round route last year. Tickets are now on sale at
