Thursday, January 7, 2016
MEMPHIS, TENN. (January 7, 2016) – Frontier Airlines has announced that it will add nonstop flights between Memphis International Airport (MEM) and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), beginning April 14. Frontier will offer the flights three times weekly: on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. Tickets are now on sale at FlyFrontier.com.
This is the first new air service announcement for 2016, after 12 new flights were added in 2015.
“If there’s one city that’s been a top priority for us to create competition, it’s Atlanta,” said Pace Cooper, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners for the Memphis Shelby-County Airport Authority (MSCAA). “We have heard from the public that they want more options and affordable flights to Atlanta, and Frontier has responded. I applaud our MEM team’s effort to bring about this addition and I strongly encourage our community to support Frontier in its effort make this link to Atlanta successful.”
“Travelers between big cities have enjoyed low fares while many markets have remained overpriced and underserved,” said Frontier Airlines President Barry Biffle. “Frontier’s low fares in Memphis will benefit thousands of new fliers including small business customers, friends and families who need to travel and even people who choose to drive because they haven’t found affordable air travel options. We see hundreds of additional opportunities like these throughout the country, fueling our growth for years to come.”
Frontier restarted its operations at MEM in March 2014, and currently offers daily flights between MEM and Denver International Airport (DEN).
