MEMPHIS, TENN. (January 12, 2016) – Allegiant has announced that it will add nonstop flights between Memphis International Airport (MEM) and Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) beginning April 15. The flights will run twice weekly on Fridays and Mondays. Tickets are now on sale at www.allegiant.com.
Today’s announcement is the second air service addition for MEM in 2016 after 12 new flights were added in 2015.
This addition is the seventh destination for Allegiant at MEM, joining Austin, Orlando/ Sanford, Las Vegas, Phoenix/Mesa, St. Pete-Clearwater and Fort Lauderdale. Allegiant began operations at MEM in May 2015.
“We are thrilled that Allegiant continues to add to its number of destinations served out of MEM,” said Scott Brockman, Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority president and CEO. In the short eight months since Allegiant starting serving MEM, they have increased to seven destinations, which offers our passengers an ever-increasing list of new low-cost options.”
“The ultimate level of new low cost service at MEM will be solely determined by load factors and overall utilization by the mid-south community,” said Pace Cooper, Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority chairman. “We believe there is still unmet demand and will continue our relentless pursuit of frequent and affordable air service.”
