Partnership between Memphis Grizzlies, Fedex Forum and Memphis International Airport takes flight

MEMPHIS, TN – This morning, the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA) board of commissioners approved a new partnership between the Memphis International Airport (MEM), the Memphis Grizzlies and FedExForum that will include promotions, community events, and initiatives designed to increase awareness about MEM’s modernization program. In addition, Grizzlies’ guard Tony Allen will serve as an official spokesperson for the airport.
“I know a little something about putting in hard work to build a better, finished product,” said Allen. “The airport, like basketball, has no offseason and never stops grinding. So, I’m happy to lend my voice to Memphis International as they enter this new phase of development to bring an improved facility to Memphis.”
One promotion planned throughout the partnership will take Grizz Nation to new heights and offer fans the opportunity to “Take Off With the Grizzlies,” where fans will have the chance to win airline tickets and Grizzlies tickets to select road games.
Scott Brockman, MSCAA President and CEO, said, “We are in the midst of reinventing the Memphis International Airport. Part of that reinvention is our relentless pursuit of frequent and affordable air service. Part is a physical reinvention highlighted by our concourse B modernization project. Additionally, an equally important aspect of our reinvention is taking community outreach to new heights. Rather than being one airline’s hub, we are now Memphis’s hub and we will be a reflection of our great city. What better way do that than to partner with Tony Allen and the Memphis Grizzlies?”
“Very few things are as critical to the growth and development of our city as our airport,” said Grizzlies President of Business Operations Jason Wexler. “We are proud to partner with Memphis International and help this vital civic institution push forward into a new era.”
