Memphis International Airport offers credit card express parking option
    Tuesday, February 10, 2015

MEMPHIS, TN - MEM is now easier and more convenient than ever thanks to Credit Card Express, a new way to pay that eliminates the need for a parking ticket.

The process is easy and intuitive. When entering any MEM parking facility, drivers simply insert a credit or debit card into the ticket issuing machine and retrieve it. The card information is recorded and stored in our secure system, so there’s no need for a ticket – just drive on through when the gate arm goes up.

When it’s time to leave, drivers simply insert the same credit or debit card into the reader at the exit gate. The system will bill your card based on your time at the facility and print a receipt.

Credit Card Express accepts MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover. The system is Payment Card Industry compliant, which means it meets a set of requirements designed to ensure credit card information is processed, stored and transmitted in a secure environment.

Drivers will still have the option to get a ticket upon entering, provided they press the ticket button before inserting their credit card.

The new Credit Card Express feature will add convenience to the considerable value that travelers experience at MEM’s parking facilities. Parking has increased by more than 14 percent compared to last year at this time. The airport’s loss of the Delta hub has had no effect on parking since the hub flights involved transfer passengers who were connecting through Memphis rather than parking at MEM.

Scott Brockman, President and Chief Executive Officer for the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority, said, “With Credit Card Express, our passengers can get in and out of the parking facility quicker. This is one of a number of passenger-focused programs and services that we’ll be adding at MEM this year.”
