MEMPHIS, TN – Southwest Airlines announced today that will be adding a new twice-daily nonstop flight between Memphis International Airport (MEM) and the airline’s home airport, Dallas Love Field (DAL), beginning April 8.
The new flights will be made possible through a long-term sub-lease agreement that will transfer usage of two gates at Love Field from United Airlines to Southwest.
“Today's announcement is a giant step in our relentless pursuit of frequent affordable air service,” said Jack Sammons, Chairman of the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority Board of Commissioners. “ The convenience and affordability of Southwest's flight to Dallas Love Field will be enthusiastically embraced by both our business and leisure travelers.”
“We are excited to add our 6th Southwest Airlines non-stop destination to Dallas Love Field,” said Scott Brockman, President and CEO of the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority. “I’m confident that the Mid-South will 'LUV' the new service starting in April.”
