American Airlines/Us Airways, United Airlines Add Daily Flights From Mem In May

MEMPHIS, TN – Memphis International Airport passengers have more flight options this month, thanks to flight additions by American Airlines/US Airways and United Airlines. American Airlines/US Airways will add an additional daily flight to Chicago-O’Hare and Dallas/Ft. Worth, while United is adding a daily flight to Denver.
These flights, in addition to nonstop flights to Cancun offered by Vacation Express, brings the peak monthly flight total to 93 in May, up from 86 in February. More importantly, these additional flights represent 863 more available seats (not including the Cancun flights) for Memphis passengers. These new options help offset an announcement by Delta Air Lines that it is ceasing its service to Tampa in May. Southwest Airlines initiated daily nonstop service to Tampa in November 2013.
“We are excited that more options are available to our passengers looking to travel to Chicago, Dallas, and Denver,” said Scott Brockman, President and CEO of the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority. “We’ve increased our available seats by 12 percent since February, and we will continue our relentless pursuit of frequent and affordable air service.”
Since Delta ceased its hub operations in Memphis, every other airline at MEM has increased its number of flight options. More additions will take place in June.
