    Southwest Airlines launches service between Memphis and Phoenix

    Southwest Airlines has launched nonstop service between Memphis International Airport (MEM) and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX).

    The service, which was announced in May, ran this summer between July 26 until August 10. Yesterday’s launch marks the beginning of ongoing service. The flight will operate four times a week, with daily flights on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday.

    Initial FAA three-year drone initiative concludes

    On Friday, U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine L. Chao announced the three-year Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Integration Pilot Program (IPP) successfully concluded on Oct. 25. Eight of the nine state, local and tribal governments that participated in the program – including Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA) -- have signed new agreements with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to continue to tackle remaining UAS integration challenges.
